The only problem was, I didn’t yet know exactly what that product was.
Fast forward to the birth of my third baby, Naomi, in the dead of a COVID winter. I spent many hours bundling her tiny self in and out of my car to visit the lactation consultant. The consultant would weigh the baby, have me nurse her, and then weigh her again to see how much she was actually eating during feedings.
Given COVID and the freezing cold, I began to think of a product that would let me easily see how much milk my baby was drinking at the breast in the comfort of home. The initial spark of Comia was born.
The more conversations I had with moms—swapping breastfeeding stories and challenges, learning where they needed support—the more my vision of the Comia SmartPillow™ came into full color.
To me, Comia is more than a product. It’s a celebration of the beautiful, hard, unpredictable, messy, meaningful journey of a breastfeeding mom. It’s a knowing nod to the 2AM feedings, the first-time latching struggles, and the blurry-eyed diaper changes. To all you moms, I want to say: You’re not alone. And at Comia, we’ve got your back. (And your boobs.)
